The Maritime Maintenance Support Group (MMSG) is responsible for providing the Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) ‘Centre of Excellence’ and in-service change management service across the Defence Equipment & Support (DE&S) maritime domain. At its core, the service is responsible for Engineering Through Life Support (ETLS) to HM Ships, Submarines, and RFAs.
Xpedite was formed in 2004, specifically to satisfy support demands in the maritime domain. Xpedite’s organisational structure and skill sets have continually evolved in response to the ever-changing maritime requirement. Xpedite specialises in Marine Technical Support, Integrated Logistic Support (ILS), Change Management, Upkeep Management, Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM), and Data Analytics.
Xpedite has been providing the MMSG Core Support function as a single source enabler since 2014. This contract entails providing a dedicated core support team of 4 Engineers, but also responding to call of tasking on a set day rate to meet specific fleet requirements. Our agile structure enables swift mobilisation of resources. Through effective communication channels and established protocols, we tap into the depth of expertise within our organisation, ensuring that the right skills and knowledge are readily available. This reach-back capability allows us to draw upon a wealth of experience, best practices, and subject matter experts across various domains.
We conduct RCM on new to in-service equipment in a manner that affords rigour but also pragmatism. Xpedite has conducted over 1000 RCM studies, including implementation of a whole ship RCM solution for the RN Aircraft Carrier. Xpedite brings extensive experience and data-driven insights to optimise maintenance practices. Our approach incorporates Class requirements, Health and Safety Executive (HSE) regulations, and other statutory mandates, ensuring compliance and safety.
In addition, Xpedite is delivering "optimisation as a service," continuously refining RCM methodologies to adapt to evolving standards, vessel operating contexts, and maintenance delivery requirements. This proactive approach ensures maximum vessel availability and operational efficiency over time.

A significant aspect of our support service revolves around comprehensive data recovery, analysis, insights generation, and change management. This encompasses addressing operational defects, change requests, and maintenance concessions. We specialise in creating scheduled, intelligent, and insightful reports tailored to enable the RN and RFA to assess the material state and operational capability of their ships effectively.
